Did you know that hand embroidery can help reduce stress and anxiety while increasing mindfulness and attention?

For this class we’ve blended our love of sustainable fashion with mindful practices that are really focused on helping our students in areas of creativity, mental health and brain development.

  • Mental health: Hand embroidery can help reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and improve sleep. It can also help you feel more confident and accomplished.

  • Mindfulness: The repetitive nature of hand embroidery can help you focus on the present moment and quiet the anxious or overstimulated mind.

  • Brain health: Hand embroidery can help develop, maintain, and repair the brain. It can also help sharpen the mind as you grow and keep your mind sharp as you age.

Meet your instructor:

Gi’ana Horsley

Gi'ana started at Sew Modest Studio when she earned a full tuition scholarship to the Summer Camp program in 2022. After graduating out of the program she began working as our apprentice and is now leading our Kids Sewing Department! Which is amazing since she herself started sewing at just 10 years old and now she is able to help our young sewists bring their fashion dreams to reality. Even though she is young she has incredible talent and has been working tremendously to develop her skills and passion. She's living proof that there is no age requirement for becoming a skilled couturier. Her talent, work and dedication are evident in all her creations. Prior to starting with Sew Modest Studio she took a couple of sewing classes at her high school. Gi'ana currently runs a custom design business in which she creates corsets, prom and special event gowns for clients.
